Baramulla, Oct 21 (KNO): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Mohammad Zaid Malik on Monday said that an infiltration bid was foiled in Uri while the body has been recovered along with an AK-series rifle and other arms. He also said that the operation is still ongoing. Speaking with the reporters on the sidelines of the commemoration day event, SSP Mohammad Zaid Malik, as per the new agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that security forces retrieved an AK-series rifle along with other arms and ammunition from the deceased. “We have made some recoveries, but details will only be disclosed after the operation concludes". Preliminary reports suggested the presence of two to three infiltrators in the area. “One body has been recovered, and we believe another infiltrator may have been hit by a bullet,” the SSP added. Notably, the security forces launched the operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector on Saturday afternoon. “Based on intelligence inputs regarding likely infiltration bid, a Joint anti-infiltration Operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice along LOC in general area Uri, #Baramulla. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire.
